Teaching Style
Anatoly has a broad teaching philosophy, focused on what the students want to achieve
and learn in their lessons. This ensures that students are constantly interested
in the music they are learning and are self directed in their practice at home.
Anatoly aims to provide students with a well rounded and solid musical education
and to give them the skills to continue learning and playing music on their own.
It is important to him that his students enjoy and are challenged by the music they
play. Anatoly wants to share his passion for music with students and hopes they
develop a similar enthusiasm, have great fun in his lessons and take with them an
abiding interest in music that will enrich their lives.
Mastering a musical instrument requires almost daily work at home, in addition to
regular lessons with a qualified and experienced teacher. Anatoly's role as a piano
teacher is to guide your progress, develop your technique and artistic interpretation
and oversee the overall musical education. The best way to benefit from any teacher's
expertise is to prepare conscientiously for each lesson.
Anatoly has considerable experience with AMEB and VCE examinations and his students
consistently achieve excellent results; however he recognises that examinations are
not for everyone, and a number of his students achieve great progress and
enjoyment working outside the exam structure.
Anatoly teaches the piano and accompanies all kinds of musicians in lessons, examinations
and recitals. He does most of the teaching from his studio in East Brighton, which
is close to public transport. He is also available to give lessons and accompany
in other areas.
All ages and levels are welcome and the first lesson is free. This gives the student an opportunity to
assess Anatoly’s teaching style, and for him to assess the student. During this
lesson you will discuss what your goals in learning piano are and what you would
like to learn in lessons. During this trial introductory lesson you begin the basics
of playing the piano with material that Anatoly provides. There is no obligation
to continue with lessons.
